About the Post Falls Senior Center
In 1973, fourteen people met in the Pligrim Cafe' to discuss organizing a Seniors Club. This group formed and nucleous of the Post Falls Senior Center which was incorported in 1978 with Finley Jones as the first Chairman of the Board and name sake for our Finley Room.
The first building was erected on East Third Avenue in 1978 and finished in 1980, and then the Senior Board members hired their first cook to prepare meals one day a week.
Seniors Volunteered for all the activities at the Center except the cook. They held dances, crafts, cards, community activities, fundraisers and they rented the hall to others in the community for their functions.
In 1993 and 1996 other additions were added and that is when we expanded our Center to 3 days a week for meals and much more.
A Thrift Store had begun by one of the board members in her garage so that the funds raised would hlep raise operating funds to continue the mission of the Center. In 1993 the Board purchased land and began building the now Thrift Store building right behind the Center.
The Center receives funding through the Area Agency on Aging- www.aaani.org–
and we also receive funds thru our fundraising projects and donations from the members and community at large.
We are always accepting donations to help continue to improve the Center and making sure our Services to Seniors continue.
The Center is governed by an elected Board of Directors which are listed below. The site then is managed by an Executive Director who sees that day to day activity is handed and carries out the wishes of the Board.
